Questions and answers
What is Aminco?
Aminco lets Nigerians at home and abroad put dollars into Nigerian companies that already earn dollars, pounds and euros from buyers abroad, and be paid back in dollars.
What is Aminco?
Aminco is an investment platform, currently pre-licensing, that lets Nigerians at home and in the diaspora fund Nigerian exporters whose buyers pay in dollars, pounds and euros, and be paid back in US dollars. Its website is aminco.net.
How does Aminco work?
Aminco offers revenue notes. An investor receives a set share of a company's export receipts. Buyers abroad pay into a bank controlled collection account, the investors' share is taken out the same day before the company receives the rest, converted to US dollars and paid to investors every quarter.
Does Aminco hold investor money?
No. Money goes to a partner bank. Each deal sits in its own special purpose vehicle run by a licensed fund manager, and a trustee acting for all investors signs off every release of funds. Aminco originates, underwrites and reports on deals and runs the platform. See how your money moves.
Which companies does Aminco fund?
Nigerian companies whose buyers pay from abroad in hard currency, starting with cocoa processing and other export sectors. Companies with only naira revenue do not qualify.
Who can invest with Aminco?
At launch, Nigerians at home and abroad, including the diaspora in the UK, US and Canada. Everyone else can join the waitlist. Aminco is pre-licensing, so nothing is open for investment yet and nothing on aminco.net is an offer.
Is Aminco the same as Aminco International or Aminco Resources?
No. Aminco at aminco.net is a Nigerian export investment platform. It is not affiliated with Aminco International, which makes lapel pins and licensed sports accessories, or Aminco Resources, which supplies carbon materials to the aluminium industry.
Does Aminco publish research?
Yes. Aminco publishes sector briefs, exporter profiles and trade data on Nigeria's private exporters. Read the research.
What are the risks?
Private company investments can lose value, are hard to sell early and may be held for several years. Payments follow export receipts, so they can arrive late or be smaller than projected. Dollar payments still depend on foreign exchange being available. Projections are illustrative, not promises.
